Yes, a lot of fans try to get Netflix or other outlets to pick up cancelled shows, but in this case SyFy cancelled the show more due to the fact that it was an acquisition than actual ratings. (It's apparently SyFy's most watched scripted show of the summer.)

We don't know exactly which outlets the producers are targeting, but they are trying very hard to find Dark Matter a new home.

A group of fans, called the Dark Committee is leading the fan efforts to make some noise.

Here's the TL;DR
If you have phone spoons: Call Netflix: 866-579-7172 ask them to pick up the show. (Be clear you mean new episodes, they already stream it.)
You can also chat with them via the site if you're a member.
mail Netflix at pr@netflix.com telling them who you are and why you think Dark Matter should continue on their service. Apparently this email didn't do what they thought it did. (Weird bounces are weird.)

Sign the Petition - Show runner Joe Mallozzi says it won't effect SyFy's decision, but whoever he's talking to is paying attention to how many signatures it's gotten.
