cranky_old_fangirlsI have finally seen Venom. I can see why fandom went nuts for it. It has two beings who are inherently compatible on some biological level and need to stay in physical contact. It's see the film described as a Rom Com and Sony even put out this trailer for the DVD release:
Maybe it's because I don't watch many Rom Coms, but the film felt like fanfic to me. That whole bond felt like something from a Soul Bond AU universe. That dynamic has been in other mediums, hence my cut text. (Okay I don't think they need to actually touch in Pacific Rim, but I forgot what my other canon example was.) But the trope doesn't seen to have a specific name. I read the TV Tropes page for Venom and I didn't see a named trope for 'that things where uniquely compatible beings hear each other's thoughts and need to touch.'
Did I miss something on the page? Is there a name for this trope out there?
