Who are the fanpeeps you talk with?

Do you have a large circle to talk fan stuff with? A small circle? Do you have one-off chats with other fans randomly, with little engagement thereafter?  Do you stick to specific fandom stuff, or talk about fandom trends more widely?

It depends on the day and the format. Twitter lends itself nicely to the random threads, as does this.

It's an everything-under-my-fannish-name Twitter, so it's a mix. I've responded to other people's conversations and started my own as well as retweeted stuff.

Usually there's some good fun in there. And some amazing hugs. XD

It varies. I've never managed to be very social in fandom, mostly because I am in tiny ships. Back when I was in bigger ones I was magically able to be both active and invisible. I've had people flat out tell me there is something wrong with me because I couldn't connect with certain fandoms. *shrug*

I have a small number of long-time fandom friends that I chat with almost daily. Sometimes we talk about fandoms we still share, but most of it is more general discussion about fandom, popular culture, or real life issues. We also share links to things we find interesting or we think the other person would like.

I have poked into various other fandom spaces in the past few years (tumblr, reddit, various Discord servers) but haven't found anywhere as welcoming and Old Comfy Shoe as some of the places I hung out in the Ye Olde Days.

Mostly [community profile] fail_fandomanon, honestly.

I make fannish posts on DW and Twitter, but they don't lead to a whole lot of conversation. Same with art posts on DA and Tumblr.

One-off chat with other fans randomly with little other engagement is probably my main way of discussing fannish things, or posting spoiler-warning marked threads on Mastodon that don't get many replies but get my thoughts out there at least - generally I'm so far behind with most shows I want to watch that noone is still discussing it when I get around to watching it anyway so I just enjoy it alone.

I do talk TV and movies regularly with a few people and a few years back talked regularly with an offline friend who was immersing herself in shows after a long period of not watching any TV. But it's more a random sort of activity as I'm not deeply into any particular fandom at the moment and there's not as much to say for canons that are now closed (sometimes long closed).

I do think it's unfortunate that current major platforms are so poorly designed for ongoing conversations.

I have one good friend to discuss fandom with and also sometimes my sister, and a few acquaintances, but fewer people as I get older. I am actually hoping to reintegrate into fandom as a friendspace, since the fandom friends I do have are all people I met online and then in person afterwards.

I have many fandoms, and I always am looking for spaces to have actual discussions on fannish topics. But I stick with the older spaces--LJ, DW, email discussion lists and, more recently, Facebook. Plus I have fannish conversations with all of my oldest and closest fannish friends (which may be by phone or email).

And what I may look to discuss can be both fandom-specific and fannishly general.
